Finally, a giveaway!!!

I am so sorry that this has taken so long for me to post!!  I really haven't been a slacker.  I am so behind on projects, deadlines and life in general.  I am hoping with school back in session that I can get back to a schedule, (like that will ever happen with teenagers!)  This post will be kind of wordy and long, I have so much to catch you up on!!  First off, we have so many new lines in we are busting at the seams, I am about ready to ask the Karate Studio next door if we can knock out the wall and start adding fabric!!  Second, our "Fall Open House" is this weekend!!  Sept 10th and 11th.  We will have lots of new quilts up and our new class schedule will be out!   So be sure and mark your calenders to attend this fun wild event!!  We will be having door prizes and games galore!!
Now on to the good stuff!!  I will be giving one jelly roll of Tweet Tweet by Keiko for FREE!  To enter all you have to do is  cecome a  follower of our blog ( this is a must we will choose our winner from these!)  tell me what you would make and we will announce the winner on Saturday Sept 11th!!  I might be adding an additonal prize to this so its gonna be good because I was so late!  You actually have 2 chances to win as we are doing this on our facebook page too.  Just go to our page The Material Girls Quilts and become a fan and enter your comment!  Easy Peasy!
So my friends I am back!!  I have so many great things planned for the future and we be sharing all of it with you soon!!
Stay Tuned!

I would like to make a quilt to donate to relay for life called "you are my sunshine" quilt for a dying friend of mine.
I would make it strip style in a lap size quilt. I would take 3 strips of each fabric; cut them into 9 1/2 lenghts. sew them in groups of 3. then take one dark color to bottom of each 3 groups. after each group of three is assemble; would take those and stagger them in the quilt where one dark color on top; next has dark color on bottom, alternating them across 7 across and 5 down. add dark border of 1 1/2" then middle border of 2 1/2" then outside border of 2 1/2". I would also on the back of the quilt put in honor of...and date in embroidery.

Nadine, the question is what wouldn't I make?! I think a couple of strip skirts for the girlies, handbags to match, a cute table runner...maybe quilt as you go. Of course, I could do a strip quilt too...similar to the one in the shop out of All Star by Riley Blake. Of course, I'd have to alter the sizes of the strips, but boy it would be fun!!!

I was in your store earlier and bought some fabric for this line for the Buggy Barn quilt I'm doing for my friend whose little girl was just diagnosed with Mitochondrial disorder. http://michelleagnew.blogspot.com/ I bought a yard and loved it so much for what we are working on that I thought of going back to get the rest so we could make shams and valances and whatever we can to make an amazing redo of Maggie's room. I was searching online this morning, looking at the different pieces from the line, like the circles and flowers in cherry and cloud. I hadn't remembered seeing it in your store, so I was going to look when I go back to get more of the pink butterfly fabric. Anyway, what I would do is to do a complete room redo for my friend's little girl. She may not have long to live, as mitochondrial disease is a fatal condition. I have two little ones who died we believe also from mitochondrial disease. They both had their crisis events on September 8th (though 6 years apart). September is a very hard month for me. They flew my kids to PCMC where we were in 2001 and again in 2007 with my little ones on life support on Sept 11th. I would LOVE to win this on Sept 11th to give me more fabrics to work on. I'm doing this project to help my friend, but it helps me stay focused when I get so discouraged and heartbroken about my little ones. If I win I will also make another quilt to donate to PCMC for their Festival of Trees. So if I win, it will help lift my spirits during a really rough time of year for me, help a little girl live each day she has to live, help her family to have a beautiful keepsake and memories when she is gone, help children at PCMC through festival of trees, and I'm sure I could find more ways it would be good. Thanks for offering this giveaway! I know so many people are hoping to win, but I want to at least have a chance, too!

I would make some quilts for christmas gifts with the fabric roll. Love love love it!

I am a follower and if I won, I would make a quilt for my little girl.

~plaid said...

Sorry for my ignorance. I googled jelly roll and see it is strips, and not fat quarters. So I would make a coordinating blanket for Maggie to carry around with her to all her appointments and such that would also match the Buggy Barn quilt we are working on for her. I think a scrappy border on the quilt would be so cute, and this would definitely help us to make that! And I could also do the shams with the strips to match. So I still want to win, even if I'm still learning about the terms. :)
