Ouch!!

I love to read so when they came out with the Nook and Kindle I was elated.  My sweet hubby bought me the Kindle, it was love at first sight!!!  I had, had it for about 2 years and I broke it.  I read every night to go to sleep so when it broke I went into panic mode, YIKES! how was I supposed to sleep without reading?  I could get a new Kindle but it would take 2 days to get to me.  So, I decided to race over to my Barnes and Noble and get the Nook color.  I have had it for about 4 1/2 months and today while letting my dogs out back, I bumped it on the door knob, it slipped out of my hand, down 3 steps, and across the pavement.  Luckily, I had purchased an insurance plan with it, but when I called to ask about it  they told me they replace it with a refurbished one, hmmm, I am so not sure how I feel about this.  So, if that is the case should I purchase the Kindle Fire?  What e-reader do you have?  Favorite one?

If they are going to give you a replacement get it (it should be free right?) But my brother has the kindle fire and totally loves it they are pretty cheap and amazing even the normal kindle is dirt cheap.

I really like my Kindle Fire now I have a screen filter put on it. Prior to the filter the screen was too bright even at the lowest setting. I've seen several for sale on Craigslist for a little less than full price. It is very easy to use and I too love to read before sleep. It is wonderful to read without disturbing the husband with the bedside light. :)

If they're giving you a free replacement get it and then start saving for the Kindle Fire and go ahead and get it when you're ready to, then you'll end up with a backup in case breakage were to happen again.

That is why I stick with the paperback books. But I like Marcia's idea.

I have 2 iPads that I read on. I did read a book on Turner's Kindle (cheapest version) and I do like the screen...easy to read in sun...you can't read in the sun with an iPad. I would assume it's the same with the Fire. You paid for the insurance. Get the replacement. Even if it's refurbished it just means it was returned. Doesn't mean it necessarily had problems. Then if it gives you fits...get the Fire...they're only $200 (iPad $500)

I LOVE my Kindle! I have friends who own Nook's, and I have to say I wouldn't trade two of them for my original Kindle. Amazon is much easier, in my opinion, to work with than B&N, and Amazon offers tons of free books through "Ereader News Today". However, if the replacement is free, take it as that's why you bought the insurance, but if $$$ is involved, I'd seriously think about going back to Kindle.

I love my iPad2. I opted for it because it is so much more than a reader. Just install the Kindle app and you're all set.

I have both the Kindle Fire and the Nook Color. I love them both! BUT...I'm with one of the other commenters. If the Nook is replaced for free, get it. If it's not, get the Kindle Fire. I LOVE my Kindle Fire even more than the Nook. It is easier to use than the Nook. Good Luck!
