Pumpkin Shortage?!

<>
Yummy pumpkin pie
Who would have thunk it??  I went to the grocery store today ( I am home sick and decided to try and run a few errands)  I thought I would pick up a couple of cans of pumpkin.  The entire shelf was empty!!  What the heck? this is "Harmons" they always keep their shelves stocked!  So, I loaded my groceries, get home and put them away and turn on the TV to catch the last of my talk show and they say "Shortage on canned pumpkin"  Oh no!! No pumpkin chocolate chip cookies!!  So, ladies if you are out and about pick up your canned pumpkin if you come across it!!  The rumor is true!
Just thought I would share that with you!

I heard this last winter. My mom ran into this shortage in Oregon last week too ... Walmart of all places. I'm in Montana and will have to check the store shelves again. I have two cherished cans in the pantry and am afraid to use them because I won't be able to replace them. However, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies sounds like it might be worth it. Where'd you get the recipe? Family secret? :)

Oh dear! I am going to be in a panic now until I find some! I cannot imagine a holiday season without pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie :( I, too, would love to have that cookie recipe! Thanks for sharing; I will spread the word -- AFTER I stock up! ;-)

You can cut up real pumpkin, cook it, and then mash it up. It tastes much better than the canned stuff!

Oh, no! That can't be true. I'm off to the store to get it before others hear about this and start hoarding.

Thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to pick up a couple of cans when I go grocery shopping this week.

I ran into the same thing! Four stores were empty before someone finally told me why.

Luckily my mom had some frozen from my aunt's garden last year and I was able to make pumpkin spice ice cream this weekend.

And the pumpkin squash are looking good in the garden again this year, so we should be set for our needs. (Fingers crossed).

Hi Ladies!!
THERE IS NO PUMPKIN SHORTAGE. While some companies may be short, there is an organic grower/processor that has plenty. You can call them direct at 541.757.1497. They will ship to you direct. OR you can visit their website at farmersmarketfoods.com and share the information with your local grocery store. The product is in all the natural food store distributors.
So don't buy into the shortage claim. They have pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie mix, butternut and sweet potato puree. ALL ORGANIC and plenty of it.

I bought two cases of Libby's canned pumpkin last year so I've got plenty! Anyone want to trade fabric for pumpkin? :)
